چکیده

A B-spline finite element method is used to solve the equal width equation numerically. This approach involves a collocation method using quintic B-splines at the knot points as element shape. Time integration of the resulting system of ordinary differential equations is effected using the fourth order Runge–Kutta method, instead of the finite difference method, the resulting system of ordinary differential equations is integrated with respect to time. Standard problems are used to validate the algorithm which is then used to model the smooth development of an undular bore.

Exact Solitary Wave Solutions of Equal Width Wave and Related Equations Using a Direct Algebraic Method

Abstract: New exact solutions of some important nonlinear partial differential equations in one and two dimensions are obtained by using the direct algebraic method. The applicability of the method is demonstrated by applying it for the equal width wave (EW) equation, modified equal width wave (MEW) equation, improved Korteweg de Vries (IKdV) equation, modified regularized long wave (MRLW) equa...

On the Exact Solution for Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations

In this study, we aim to construct a traveling wave solution for nonlinear partial differential equations. In this regards, a cosine-function method is used to find and generate the exact solutions for three different types of nonlinear partial differential equations such as general regularized long wave equation (GRLW), general Korteweg-de Vries equation (GKDV) and general equal width wave equ...

Optimization of Thermalisation Loss in the Quantum Dot Solar Cells using a Finite Element Method

As thermalisation loss is the dominant loss process in the quantum dot intermediate band solar cells (QD-IBSCs), it has been investigated and calculated for a QD-IBSC, where IB is created by embedding a stack of InAs(1-x) Nx QDs with a square pyramid shape in the intrinsic layer of the AlPySb(1-y) p-i-n structure. IB, which is an optically coupled but electrically isolated mini-band, divides th...

Analytical Approach to the Modified Equal Width Equation

The modified equal width (MEW) equation arising from the nonlinear media with dispersion process has been paid special attention in the past decades [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. Since its wide applications and important mathematical properties, many methods have been presented to study the different solutions and physical phenomena related to this equation. By using the Petrov-Galerkin method together with...

Solitary waves for the generalized equal width (GEW) equation

We consider solitary wave solutions of the generalized equal width (GEW) wave equation ut + εuux − δuxxt = 0. This paper presents a collocation method for the GEW equation, which is classified as a nonlinear PDE using quadratic B-splines at midpoints as element shape functions. In this research, the scheme of the equation under investigation is found to be unconditionally stable. Test problems ...
